Collection: Spore Ampoules

What Are Spore Ampoules Used For?

Spore ampoules are self-contained biological indicators (SCBIs) used to validate and monitor liquid steam sterilization and dry loads — the definitive test confirming a sterilizer killed resistant microorganisms. Each sealed glass ampoule holds Geobacillus stearothermophilus (Cell Line 7953) spores in modified Tryptic Soy Broth with a pH indicator: the media stays purple on a pass, turns yellow or turbid on a fail.

Duraline's spore ampoules come in mini (40mm) and standard (47mm) sizes across Log 4, 5, and 6 populations, validated for steam cycles from 121°C to 137°C, and are read using the Bionova IC10/20 incubator.
