Once-A-Day® Ecos™
Bowie-Dick Test
is a compact eco-friendly, lead free method of daily sterilizer testing designed for pre-vacuum sterilizer mechanical air removal testing. Used to
monitor sterilizer function
at the start of each day, or after routine or other maintenance. Once-A-Day® Ecos™ detects low temperature/pressure conditions, wet & superheated steam.
For use at 273.5°F/134°C using a 3.5 min exposure time
Features:
Compact disposable Bowie-Dick test pack
Distinct blue to pink color change
Lead and heavy metal-free ink, sheets and ink are non-toxic and safe for environment
latex-free
biodegradable
How It Works:
Processed / Unprocessed: Ecos™
process indicator on box can quickly tell you if pack has been processed.
Here is a sample of "unprocessed" indicator
Pass: A clear blue to pink color change indicates a fully functioning sterilizer and signals that you can proceed
with load processing.
This Bowie-Dick test then goes a step farther to actually detect and indicate the sterilizer malfunctions.
Ecos™ helps identify the specific reason for failure with distinct dye patterns after exposure
Instructions
Preheat sterilizer before running the test.
After the preheat cycle place one test pack on the lowest shelf over the drain. The sterilizer must be empty except for
the test pack
Run a normal sterilization cycle at 273.5°F/134°C using a 3.5 min exposure time, do not exceed 4 min exposure time
At the end of the cycle, remove the test pack from the sterilizer. Caution: pack and contents may be hot
Remove the
test sheet from the pack and examine the indicator test pattern
Warning: Extending the recommended time for the Once-A-Day® Ecos™ test pack over 4 minutes will invalidate results because entrapped air
diffuses over time.
Lead and heavy metal-free ink, sheets and ink are non-toxic and safe for environment
latex-free
biodegradable
Storage Conditions: 15°-32°C (59°-90°F) 30-70% Relative Humidity
For use at 273.5°F/134°C using a 3.5 min exposure time
