Identify\nthe WTL198-0072 SCBI by writing the sterilizer number (in case of having more\nthan one), load number and processing date on the label. \u003co:p\u003e\u003c\/o:p\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-size: 12px;\"\u003e2. Pack the\nSCBI along with materials to be sterilized in an appropriate package according\nto recommended sterilization practices. Place the package in those areas which\nare considered most inaccessible for the sterilizing agent (e.g., the center of\nthe load and areas near the door). \u003co:p\u003e\u003c\/o:p\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-size: 12px;\"\u003e3. After the\nsterilization process has finished, open the sterilizer door, wait five minutes\nand remove the SCBI from the package. \u003cbr\u003e\nCAUTION: Wear safety glasses and gloves when removing the WTL198-0072 SCBI from\nthe sterilized package. WARNING: Do not crush or handle the SCBI excessively,\nsince this might cause the glass ampoule to burst. A color change to brown indicates that the\nSCBI has been exposed to Steam.\u003cbr\u003e\n IMPORTANT: this color change does not\nevidence the process effectiveness to achieve sterility. If the Process\nIndicator color has not changed, check the sterilization process. \u003co:p\u003e\u003c\/o:p\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-size: 12px;\"\u003e6. Press the\nlid to seal the tube. Crush the ampoule contained in the SCBI with an\nindividual ampoule crusher or with the ampoule crusher placed within the\nincubator´s incubation area. Then shake the tube down vigorously, with\nmovements similar to those performed to lower the temperature in a mercury\nthermometer, until the medium reaches the base of the tube and soaks the spore\ncarrier entirely. Finally, place the SCBI in the incubator. IMPORTANT: Use a\nnon-sterilized SCBI as a positive control in order to ensure that correct\nincubation conditions were met; capability of medium to promote rapid growth;\nviability of spores has not been altered due to improper storage temperature,\nhumidity or proximity to chemicals and proper functioning of Auto-Reader\nIncubators.
